Overall Purpose of the Role

Manage the day-day support of all applications, either through internally managed resources or service delivery partners, within the company IT estate.

Work with Business owners to transition ownership of existing self-supported / managed applications back into IT.

Own the service delivery element of supplier relationships, and manage the commercial side as well for agreed suppliers.

Ensure that there is capability and capacity to support the existing estate, the agreed Technology road map and the Program portfolio in a timely and cost effective manner.

Manage demand, delivery, and transition into support of all development requests agreed through the portfolio management process, as well as bug fixes, and delivered either by internal resources or external Development partners.

Own, along with the SDM Hosting the Service Transition Process.

Actively contribute to a well-defined Continuous Service Improvement Program.

Act as cover for the Head of Applications along with the Environment and Release Manager.

Detailed Description  

Service Delivery – Incident / Change Management

Responsible for managing task allocation across Application support and Application Development, that meet agreed (and exceed) SLA’s.

Plan, and deliver, along with the Environment & Release Manager, a change program that not only keeps all Applications current but also enables the Portfolio, Small change and Bug fixes to be delivered effectively.

Supplier & Customer Management

Help manage the supplier base that supports existing, and future Application requirements.

Own the service delivery element of supplier relationships, and manage the commercial side as well for agreed suppliers.

Application Management

Identifies and provides individual development opportunities to enable each team member to identify personal areas f improvement and realise that potential.

Support any changes impacting the production environment are managed through change control.

Environment \ Release Management

Work with the Environment & Release Manager to support the creation / re-fresh and management of all Development / Test / Staging and Cut-over Environments.

Ensure, through a well-managed Change and Release program the introduction of new software / applications upgrades etc.

Help maintain, refresh and recycle environments, including access control and deployment of software builds for testing (bespoke and 3rd party)

Encourage the use of the environment plan / Booking system to allow customers to see when environments are available.

Continuous Improvement

Encourage continual improvement ideas across all team members.

Review and refine procedural changes to support the improvement in team standards.

Work with Business teams on Improvement plans. Agree schedules, timelines and success criteria.

Work with Suppliers on Improvement plans. Agree schedules, timelines and success criteria.
